Whitney Levandusky is the acting deputy director of registration policy and practice for the United States Copyright Office. She was appointed to the position effective September 7, 2025.

Levandusky assists the Acting Associate Register of Copyrights and Director of Registration Policy and Practice in overseeing the Office of Registration Policy and Practice, which administers the U.S. copyright registration system. She manages a diverse portfolio of legal, policy, and governance matters and advises on questions of registration policy and related regulations.

Levandusky has served as supervisory attorney-advisor for the Copyright Claims Board (CCB) since 2021. She oversaw the launch of the CCB in 2022, including developing and implementing technical systems and processes to support the CCB’s website and docketing system. She was responsible for directing and coordinating the CCB’s daily operations, managing workforce and training, and supporting the development of the CCB’s pro bono program. Levandusky joined Office in 2015 as the inaugural attorney-advisor in the Office of Public Information and Education.

Before joining the Office, Levandusky was a judicial law clerk for Judge William Nickerson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. She was also the founder and director of the Arts Law Clinic for the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.

Levandusky earned a JD from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and a BA in the history of art with a minor in museums and society from The Johns Hopkins University.
