COPYRIGHT OFFICE ANNOUNCES ALTERNATIVE METHODS FOR FILING CLAIMS TO 2003 DART ROYALTY FUNDS AND WAIVER OF REQUIREMENT OF ORIGINAL SIGNATURE

Due to continuing delays in the receipt of mail, the Copyright Office is announcing that the requirement of the original signature of the claimant of or a duly authorized representative of the claimant is waived solely for the purpose of filing claims to the 2003 DART royalties. The Office also is announcing alternative methods for filing claims to the 2003 DART royalty funds. To ensure that claims are timely received, claimants are encouraged to file their DART claims online or by fax, using the special procedures described in the Federal Register notice.

Claims may be filed online via the Copyright Office here. The Office encourages claimants who file online to do so by February 29, 2004. Claims filed online must be received on the Office's server by 11:59 p.m. EST on March 1, 2004. Submissions by facsimile should be sent to (202) 252-3423. The facsimile transmission must be received in the Office no later than 5:00 p.m. EST on March 1, 2004. Submissions sent by a commercial courier MUST be delivered to the Congressional Courier Acceptance Site located at 2nd and D Streets, N.E., Washington, D.C., between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and should be delivered there by 4:00 p.m. on February 27, 2004. Commercial courier deliveries will not be accepted at the Library of Congress. The Office discourages but does not prohibit filing claims by mail.

For further details, see the Federal Register announcement here.
