Visual Art Works Serials and Periodicals

Follow these steps to register your periodical, newspaper, magazine, or other similar work. Serial works are issued or intended to be issued in successive parts bearing numerical or chronological designations and are intended to be continued indefinitely (click here for more examples of serial works).

Step 1

Select the appropriate application for your work.

  1. For single issues, use Form SE or Short Form SE and Form CON if needed (choose which form to use)
  2. For a group of issues that meet certain conditions, use Form SE/Group.
  3. For a group of daily newspapers or newsletters that meet certain conditions, use Form G/DN.

Step 2

Put into one envelope or package:

Send the package to:

Your registration becomes effective on the day that the Copyright Office receives your application, payment, and copy(ies) in acceptable form. If your submission is in order, you will receive a certificate of registration in approximately 6 months." (Note: We are currently experiencing processing delays.)"
