SEARCHING NOTICES OF INTENT TO ENFORCE
A RESTORED COPYRIGHT UNDER THE URAA.

A Notice of Intent to Enforce a Restored Copyright is a document filed with the Copyright Office for the purpose of providing constructive notice to reliance parties that the owner of the restored copyright plans to enforce those rights. For further information, see circular 38b, "Highlights of Copyright Amendments Contained in the Uruguay Round Agreements Act (URAA)".

Notices of Intent to Enforce (NIE) are available for searching in the Copyright Office online records through LOCIS. They are included as part of the "Copyright History Documents File". This file also contains other documents relating to copyright that have been filed with the Copyright Office. A search of these records may result in numerous documents relating to the same title or name. NIEs are distinguished from other documents by a statement noting a Uruguay Round Agreements Act (URAA) filing in the NOTE field. This NOTE field also gives information about the number of titles listed in the NIE, the rights being claimed and other information. The date in the section RECORDED is the date the NIE was filed with the Copyright Office. The date in the section EXECUTED is the date of publication in the Federal Register.

NIEs may be searched by title, alternative title, English translation of the title, name of author and name of copyright owner.

To search by the title, the name of the author or the name of the copyright owner, use the following commands:
