Copyright Office Announces Public Roundtable Discussions for Software-Enabled Consumer Products Study and Section 1201 Study

The United States Copyright Office is announcing public roundtables to gather input for its studies on software-enabled consumer products and section 1201 of title 17. For each study, the Office will hold roundtables in Washington, DC and San Francisco, CA. To accommodate parties who may wish to attend roundtable sessions in both studies, the roundtables will be held on consecutive days at the same location in each city.


For the study on software-enabled consumer products, roundtables will take place on May 18, 2016, in Washington, and on May 24, 2016, in San Francisco. For the study on section 1201, roundtables will take place on May 19 and 20 in Washington, and on May 25 and 26 in San Francisco. The roundtables in Washington will be held at the Library of Congress’s Madison Building, and those in San Francisco will be held at UC Hastings College of the Law.


Those seeking to participate in a roundtable should complete and submit the online form for the appropriate study. Requests to participate must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on April 18, 2016.
