On February 19, 2025, the U.S. Copyright Office conducted an online webinar, “Creativity in Focus: Copyright Essentials for Visual Artists and Photographers.” This was the first event in a three-part educational series for creators in the visual art, music, and literary professions.

In the first session, we discussed what visual artists like graphic designers and photographers should know about copyright. We covered the types of works protectable by copyright, streamlined application options, and how our Public Information Office can help.

Attendees also learned copyright basics, answers to commonly asked questions, and where to find Copyright Office educational resources.
