Iyauta Green Appointed Deputy Director of Operations

Register of Copyrights Shira Perlmutter has announced the appointment of Iyauta Green as Deputy Director of Operations for the U.S. Copyright Office, effective March 13, 2023. Green will assist the Assistant Register and Director of Operations with strategic planning, financial activities, and business processes for the Copyright Office.

Before joining the Office, Green served as the associate deputy assistant secretary for risk management and regulatory affairs in the Office of Housing at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). There she managed five divisions and oversaw business transformation in the areas of risk management, human resources, contracts and procurement, administration, and operations. She also developed the enterprise risk management process for the Office of Housing and spearheaded vendor procurement for credit and operational risk oversight for the Office of Housing and the Federal Housing Administration program. Prior to that, she was the deputy director and acting director of the Office of Policy Development and Coordination at HUD, where she worked closely with the Office of the Inspector General to resolve outstanding audits and specialized in stakeholder and community development. Previously, Green spent sixteen years at the U.S. Department of Education in the Office of the Secretary, the Office of the Deputy Secretary, and the Office of Finance and Operations, serving in various capacities. From 2003 to 2004, she served as an advisor to the DC Public School Board.

Green earned a bachelor of arts degree in policy studies from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and a master’s degree in public administration from American University. She’s earned two certifications from Management Concepts in federal financial management, auditing track, and grants management, federal oversight track, and she is a graduate of the Excellence in Government Fellows program. She also holds training certificates in risk management and public sector leadership.
